Innovation is the heartbeat of American industry, driving growth and ushering in technologies that redefine how we live and work.

But where are the main hubs for innovation in the USA? Is it all coming out of Silicon Valley? Which companies are leading the way in next-generation technology? And where are the up-and-coming tech hubs that are flying under the radar?

The latest study by the researchers at OnDeck explored both questions by examining the number of patents filed by major US companies in 2023, as well as the US states and cities with the highest percentage of new patent filings.

Here’s a rundown of the data.

The USA’s most innovative company

Technology giant IBM is officially the most innovative US company, or at least according to the number of patents filed. The firm, which developed the first large-scale calculating computer in the 1940s, filed 3,953 patent applications during 2023.

Around half of those (1,591) are related to AI and machine learning technology.

Although the details of patents are usually kept under wraps, one thing we can expect to see in the near future is smarter (and maybe even emotionally literate) AI language models. In other words, IBM is working on machines that can ‘think’ and ‘feel.’

Patent innovation across the USA

The list of the most innovative US companies is dominated by the biggest names in big tech.

They include Apple, which filed for 2,568 patents in 2023, and Intel, which had 2,236 ideas in 2023 that were unique enough to be patented.

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, also made the list, filing for 2,579 patents. Google is notoriously secretive regarding its future projects, which are developed under the umbrella of its R&D division, Google X.

However, its deep research teams are rumored to be working on new AR technologies to integrate more seamlessly into daily life, quantum computing supremacy, and new wearable technologies that monitor health.

And if you fall too far down into the Reddit rabbit hole, you’ll find some rumors and wild speculation that Google is working on (or has already built-in) a time machine. But take that one with a very large pinch of salt.

The USA’s most innovative cities

The OnDeck report also looked at the most innovative cities in the USA, calculated by the number of patents filed per every 10K residents.

On that scale, Palo Alto, California, came out on top. The OnDeck analysis shows 216 patents filed in Palo Alto during 2023 for every 10K residents. This should come as no surprise to those familiar with the city. It sits right in the heart of Silicon Valley and is home to Stanford University, one of the world’s top higher learning institutions.

Palo Alto is also a major hub for venture capital in the United States, with many VC firms based there or nearby, funding the growth of numerous tech companies and local inventors responsible for most patent filings.

The remaining four spots in the top five list of innovative US cities for patent filings are also found in the state of California.

Cambridge, Massachusetts, is one of the highest-ranking cities outside the Golden State, with 77.6 patent filings per 10K residents. Many of these patents would come from researchers associated with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), located on the northern bank of the Charles River that runs through the city. MIT is an elite institution renowned for producing the world’s most remarkable and widely adopted technologies. They include email, spreadsheet software, GPS technology, and public key cryptography for secure data transmission across the internet.

Patent hubs across the USA

Next up, OnDeck researchers took a more local approach as they went in search of smaller and lesser known areas where innovation is flourishing.

Areas that stood out include Beaverton, a city in Oregon with a population of less than 100,000. But while its population might be small, the people of Beaverton are great at coming up with big ideas. Between them, they’ve filed 60 patents for every 10K residents. But they do have some pretty big footsteps (or at least trainer steps) to follow. Nike, one of the world’s largest sportswear companies, was founded in nearby Eugene and is now headquartered in Beaverton.

Nike’s most famous patent includes the Nike Air Technology, a cushioning system that incorporates pressurized air within a flexible bag to provide more comfort and better performance.

And in 2009, Nike filed Patent No. 8,769,844. It put a unique claim to self-tying shoes that automatically adjust to the wearer’s feet using an internal lacing mechanism.

The most innovative US states for patent filing

Oregon appears again when looking at the data on a state-by-state basis. In 2023, 8.6 patents were filed for every 10K residents living in the state. Only three states scored higher than that. They were Washington (8.7), Massachusetts (11.1), and California (11.8).

Family-owned businesses play a crucial role in the American economy. They embody the entrepreneurial spirit and community values that define many states, cities, and metro areas.

But what’s the current state of family businesses in the USA? Are their numbers growing or shrinking? Are they still key employers? And how are they paying the staff they do take on?

These questions inspired this latest study from OnDeck.

Based on data from the Census Bureau’s 2023 Annual Business Survey, it investigates where family businesses are thriving in the US and where the faceless corporations are taking over.

Here’s a breakdown of the study’s findings.

US states with the highest and lowest percentage of family-owned businesses

Business really is a family thing in South Dakota. With a score of just over 41%, it’s the state with the highest percentage of family-run businesses.

And it’s no accident. South Dakota is famous for its business-friendly climate. There’s no corporate income tax or personal income tax, making it easier for family-run businesses to keep more of their profits and pass on the company to the next generation.

New York scored the lowest of all in this first section of the study. Less than 1 in 5 businesses in the Big Apple are family-owned.

Family-run businesses in US metro areas

The San Antonio-New Braunfels, Texas, is the US metro area where you’ll find the highest percentage of mom-and-pop type stores. Over 34% of all businesses in this metro area are classified as family-owned.

It’s one of three metro areas where around a third of all businesses are kept in family hands. The other two are Fresno, California, and Oklahoma City.

The states where the percentage of family-run businesses is on the rise

Family businesses may not be booming in Delaware and Wyoming. However, they are on the rise. Between 2020 and 2021, these states saw a 3 to 4% increase in the number of family-owned businesses.

The same period saw some marginal growth in the percentage of family-run businesses in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New Jersey.

But the picture is pretty bleak across the rest of the USA. The data analyzed by the OnDeck team reveals a drop-off in almost every state, with a big decrease in Louisiana (4.95%) and North Dakota (4.88%).

But the hardest-hit state for family businesses in 2020-21 was Alaska. In that twelve-month period, the number of family-run businesses in the state fell by over 7%.

Metro areas where the proportions of family businesses rose

The 12 months between 2020-21 were good for people who wanted to open and run a family business in the Memphis, Fresno, and Salt Lake City metros. All three had 4% more family-run businesses by the end of 2021.

But it’s the corporations and franchises that expanded the most in the New Orleans-Metairie metro. And that led to a decrease in the percentage of the area’s family-owned businesses. That figure fell by 6.28% during the year in question.

States where family-run businesses employ the most people

Family-run businesses are a bedrock of the US economy. Not only do they generate huge amounts of dollars, but they also employ millions of people, driving economic growth and stability.

Maine is the state with the highest percentage of people employed by family-run businesses in the USA. Almost half (46%) of the working population puts in hours at a family-run operation.

The other high scorers include Arkansas, Utah, and the capital state, Washington. In each case, 4 out of 10 people are employed by a family-run business.

Metro areas where family-run businesses are big employers

Salt Lake City is a metro area in Utah famous for its strong sense of community and traditional family values. And these certainly extend to the area’s approach to business and employment. With a score of 49%, it’s the metro area with the highest percentage of people working at family businesses.

Oakland and the Kansas City metros are not far behind, with scores of 42% and 41%, respectively.

Only around 1 in 5 people with jobs in the Buffalo-Cheektowaga-Niagara Falls metro can say they’re employed by a family-run business. It’s more evidence that New York state is not where family businesses thrive.

States where family-owned businesses pay the highest wages

This last part of the study focused on pay. It reveals that Oregon is where people working at family businesses can earn the most. Family-run businesses in the state pay an average salary of $60,000 annually.

The lowest wages are in Hawaii. Here, the average salary at a family operation is less than $35,000.

Metro areas with the highest and lowest salaries

If you live in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area, you’ll want to work at a family-run business. The metro’s super-generous employers pay the average worker over $71,000.

Again, pay is much less in Hawaii—salaries at family-operated businesses in the Urban Honolulu metro average just $30,441. No metro area across the USA scored lower.

The average cost of a  four-year degree in the USA is now well over $100,000.

And so the big question is, are college degrees worth that sizable investment?

A recent study from Career.io answered that question with a resounding yes. By analyzing US Census data on average salaries among high-school and college-educated workers, it revealed a significant graduate salary earning premium across almost every US state and city.

In other words, having a college degree significantly boosts your lifetime earning potential, no matter where you live in the USA.

Here’s a breakdown of all the data.

How much more do graduates earn in each US state?

California has the biggest graduate salary premium among the US states. Professionals with a college degree on their CV are earning 96% more than their high-school-educated counterparts. On a dollar basis, that works out to an extra $37,000 per year. No wonder the gap between the haves and the have-nots continues to widen in The Golden State.

New Jersey is another state with a high graduate salary premium; it’s over 90%. Other states where graduates are out-earning the rest of the workforce by a significant amount include Maryland, Washington, and New York.

On the other end of the scale, Vermont’s college-educated professionals might wonder if taking on all that student debt was really worth it. Vermont has the smallest graduate salary premium of any US state; it’s just over 30%.

Graduate salary premiums in US states by gender

The pay disparity between high-school and college-educated workers in California widens even further when looking at the data on gender. Male workers without a degree in California earn an average salary of $42,000, while their college-educated peers make nearly $90,000; that’s a graduate salary premium of over 100%.

And the pay gap is more significant among female high-school educated workers and college graduate professionals. There are four states where the graduate salary premium for female graduates is over 100%. They are New Jersey (105%), Texas (104%), California (103%), and New York (102%).

The research suggests that college-educated females earn around $50,000 more annually. Over a working lifetime, that could add up to an additional $3 million, making the investment of a college degree well worth it in the long run.

The city in every US state with the highest graduate salary premium

The Career.io researchers also segmented the data by cities. And that’s when those salary premiums start to get really wild.

For example, the graduate salary premium in Sugar Land, Texas, is a massive 201%.

New Rochelle, New York, is another US city where college graduates earn 3x more than high-school graduates.

The US cities with the highest graduate salary premium

But here’s where those salary premiums get even crazier.

Hoboken, New Jersey, is the US city with one of the highest graduate salary premiums in the entire study. It’s a city where college graduates earn, on average, 305.63% more than workers with only a high school diploma. The career.io researcher ran the numbers and calculated that Hoboken’s salary premium equals an additional $81,000 per year.

Palo Alto, California, also appears in this part of the study. It has a graduate salary premium of 256%. Palo Alto is a city in the northwestern corner of Santa Clara County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The city has a high concentration of tech and defense companies that pay huge salaries to the best college graduates.

US cities with the lowest graduate salary premiums

It’s not all bad news for US high school graduates. There are several US cities where the salary disparity between non-college-educated workers and those with a degree is down to just a few percent. For example, the graduate salary premium in Schaumburg, Illinois, is only 7.83%.

And there are several US cities where high school-educated workers are out-earning those with a degree. They include Johnson City, Tennessee, where the salary premium for college grads is -12%.

But the best place to be a high school-educated worker, at least in terms of earning potential, is Gary, Indiana, where the salary premium disparity dips all the way down to -50%. Flip that around, and it means high school-educated workers in Gary are earning 50% more than those who paid over $100k to fund four years of college.

The graduate salary premium for men and women in US cities

In John’s Creek, Georgia, men with a college degree are out-earning high school-educated workers by 341%. We see similar figures coming out of Folsom in California and Newton City, Massachusetts.

In Edina, Minnesota, the average salary for a high school-educated woman is $13,851. That’s 390% less than the pay for the average college-educated woman working in the city, who takes home just under $70,000.

You don’t need to be in the top 1% to know that the top jobs with the top salaries attract the most (and best) candidates. And you don’t need to be a genius to understand that finding ways to set yourself apart is key to making yourself the best candidate.

And you probably know that competition for jobs is much hotter in some cities.

But do you know which US cities are the most competitive for jobs? Or where you can go to significantly improve your chances of getting a yes?

If not, then this latest study from career.io is for you. It’s based on data from LinkedIn, which was then used to rank every US state and major city based on the number of daily job applicants for local, highly paid jobs.

Here’s a summary of the results:

Utah has the Most Competitive City for High-paying Jobs

There’s a bit of a surprise at the top of the list for the most competitive US cities for high-paying jobs. Because it’s not New York or Los Angeles. It isn’t even San Francisco.

Instead, it’s in Utah. Salt Lake City sees the highest number of applicants for the best paying jobs. According to the data collected by career.io, there are 34.9 daily applicants for every high-paying job.

But it’s not that much of a shock. Or at least for those who know what’s going on around Salt Lake.

Salt Lake City is one of the USA’s up-and-coming cities. Its booming tech and startup scene, otherwise known as the “Silicon Slopes,” is attracting a highly skilled workforce, pushing up competition for the best jobs.

And with its affordable cost of living compared to other tech hubs and stunning natural surroundings, it’s easy to see why an increasing number of well-educated professionals are moving to Salt Lake to land a top job.

Every US State’s Most Competitive City for Jobs

Next up, the career.io researchers turned their attention to the most competitive city in every US state.

There’s some seriously hot competition in San Jose’s exclusive job market. There are just under 30 daily applicants per best-paying job in San Jose, making it California’s most competitive city.

Denver is another major city where you’ll be up against a large pool of super-talented applicants. Employers advertising the best paying jobs in Colorado’s most competitive city receive 31 applications every single day.

There’s no prize for guessing the state of New York’s most competitive city. Because it’s New York City, which continues to be a popular location for top talent from all across the globe.

The Least Competitive Cities

Applicants who want to improve their odds of landing a top-paying job should consider chasing their fortune in Parkersburg, West Virginia. It’s officially the least competitive city in the study, averaging out at 0 applicants per day. In other words, these top-paying jobs are here for the taking – you just need to get to Parkersburg first.

Several other cities have next to zero daily applicants for jobs that pay the big bucks. They include Nampa, Idaho; Butte, Montana; and Sitka, Alaska.

If you’re looking for larger (and more recognizable) cities where you won’t be up against hundreds of other applicants, then Green Bay in Wisconsin and Shreveport in Los Angeles are your best bets. Recruiters for the most sought-after job in these cities are sorting through less than one CV per day.

Least Competitive City in Every State

Texas has become the go-to state for high-flyers abandoning California. As such, competition for the most desired jobs in Dallas and Houston is rising. So we may start to see more Californian expats move to Laredo instead, which has a far less competitive job market (just 0.03 daily applicants.)

Colorado Springs is one of the best places to live in the USA. Resting at the foot of the majestic Rocky Mountains, it offers a unique blend of stunning natural beauty, outdoor activities, and a vibrant cultural scene. And if you have the right qualifications, you have a great chance of landing a top job, too. Because with a daily application rate of 0.44 for well-paid roles, Colorado Springs is the state of Colorado’s least competitive city.

Bennington, Vermont, is another city where you’re almost guaranteed to get at least an interview for a job with a great starting salary. It’s one of the few cities that receives 0 daily applicants when averaged out.

The Most Competitive US States for High Salary Jobs

The last part of the career.io study focuses on how competitive each state is when it comes to the best-paying jobs.

For the second time in the research, Utah takes the top spot (22.6 applications.)

Missouri isn’t far behind. It averages 19.2 daily applications for top jobs advertised all across the state.

Other high scorers include California (15.2 applications), Hawaii (15.2 applications), and Colorado (17.1 applications).

“A brand comes down to one thing,” said the late and very great Steve Jobs. “It’s trust.”

And brand trust is the subject of this latest piece of research from the team at OnDeck. It decided to find the most trusted companies across the entire USA by analyzing and ranking them based on the number of 5-star Trustpilot reviews.

Let’s check out the results.

The Most Trusted Company in the USA

The award for the USA’s most trusted company goes to NCH (Nevada Corporate Headquarters), a small legal firm operating out of Nevada.

NCH specializes in helping young businesses and startups cut through all the red tape and stay compliant. And it appears to be doing an excellent job; over 97% of all its Trustpilot reviews are five stars.

The Most Trusted Company in Every US State

The second part of the study segmented the data by location, highlighting the single most trusted company in every US state.

Sporting goods store Ski Butlers came out on top in the state of Utah.

Another outdoor specialist is the most trusted brand in South Dakota. Hunting goods store Silencer Central, which operates out of Sioux Falls, boasts a 5-star Trustpilot rating of 91%. That’s a lot of satisfied customers.

Hawaii’s most trusted brand is a travel firm (no surprise there). Maui Activities, which runs everything from snorkel tours to helicopter rides around the islands, scored 82%.

The Most Trusted Tech Companies in the USA

Next up, OnDeck decided to find the most trusted US company by industry and sector, starting with tech.

And there’s absolutely no sign of any of the big and established names, like Meta.

Instead, the list is dominated by smaller firms that focus on providing a personal service with a human touch.

Of these, Georgia-based repair shop Vision Computer Inc. scored highest, with a 5-star Trustpilot rating of well over 95%.

“You will be in extremely capable hands with Vision,” posted one customer. “The team guides you through each step of the process. Not only are they efficient and so knowledgeable, but they also care. They make the most complex process seem effortless.”

In case you’re wondering how Meta does on Trustpilot, then the answer is…not good; 96% of all Meta Trustpilot reviews are one star.

“I only wish I could leave a 0-star review,” left one disgruntled customer. “Everyone needs to uninstall their products and stop using them completely. Terrible company with terrible employees. I would trust them as far as I could throw Zuckerberg. Everyone needs to uninstall Meta’s products and stop using them completely.”

Harsh. Extremely harsh.

US Clothing and Accessory Stores that Customers Trust

Watch retailer DavidSW is the most trusted US clothing or accessory store, according to its percentage of 5-star reviews. 98 out of 100 DavidSW customers took the time to leave the maximum score review on Trustpilot after visiting the store.

“This was my first true luxury watch purchase, and they did an excellent job of quick responses to my many emails,” stated one 5-star review. “The watch I wanted was not in their inventory, but they were able to track one down just for me, which was very cool. I couldn’t imagine any better buying experience! I’ll definitely come back here again in the future.”

The Most Trusted Media Companies in the USA

Trust in the US mainstream media is at an all-time low – on both sides of the political spectrum. One study shows that less than 1 in three Americans trust the mass media to report the news “fully, accurately, and fairly.”

Thankfully, there’s still plenty of trust in the smaller media and publishing firms offering direct services to US customers.

Several US media companies scored above 90% in the 5-star Trustpilot rankings, including Morris Press, a publisher based in Nebraska.

MyComicShop is one of six book shops featured in this section of the study. The Texas-based geek haven

has a 92% five-star review rating on Trustpilot.

“Best place in Texas to find rare comic books,” reads one review. “And the staff member knows their stuff. Serious knowledge about comic book history and culture.”

Nearly 100% Trust Rating for PolicyPro

Does anybody really trust their insurer to stand by them when the chips are down?

PolicyPro customers do. Despite operating in an industry known for its shady practices, 99% of Trustpilot reviews for the Texas-based insurer are 5-star. Incredible.

“Just when I had lost hope in finding a lower premium, PolicyPro worked some magic and found me something better with higher coverage! Thank you!” read one review.

Trust in US Wellness and Beauty Stores

The US wellness industry has some trust issues. After all, how can we verify all those ‘amazing’ health claims and benefits?

Well, the proof is usually right there in the customer review. Leading the way in that department is Soap Korner, an herbal store in Denver, Colorado. It scored 97% in the Ondeck study; that’s higher than any other wellness store across the entire United States.

Is the US economy booming amid a post-pandemic recovery? Or is it lurching toward a 2024 recession? Are we already in an economic downturn? Well, it depends on who you ask (and what news you consume.)

Switch On Business decided to cut through all the noise with a new study looking at one of the best markers of economic recovery – the number of new hires. By analyzing data on the number of jobs advertised between September 2022 and September 2023, it ranked major U.S. companies based on the number and percent of total new employees.

Here’s a breakdown of the results.

US Companies Hiring the Most New Employees

In terms of raw numbers, Apple tops the chart for US companies increasing their workforce. The tech giant onboarded 95,102 new hires between September 2022 and September 2023. That’s one busy HR department.

The USA’s ongoing love of fast food put McDonald’s in second place. Despite a notoriously high staff turnover rate, the restaurant chain still increased its workforce by 93,817. And the firm’s growth plans have no intention of slowing down. McDonald’s plans to open an additional 50,000 stores worldwide by 2027, with thousands more earmarked across US states and cities.

Amazon is also putting a huge emphasis on people power. Between 2022 and 2023, Amazon employed over 85,000 new staff, putting it in third place in the chart. This recent recruitment drive was driven by Amazon’s commitment to delivering exceptional, personalized services built by data science and analytics. Over the last few years, the number of data scientists and analysts working at Amazon has increased by more than 500%. And Amazon wants even more of these data wizards. A recent study found that Amazon is posting hundreds of data scientist roles every single month.

Companies Hiring the Largest Percentage of New Employees

The Switch On Business report also looked at the percentage of new employees being hired at companies across the USA.

Again, Apple grabbed one of the top spots. It bulked up its workforce by 51%, putting it in second place in terms of percentage growth.

WorldQuant took pole position, growing its staff numbers by over 60% in a 12-month period. WorldQuant is a private asset management firm specializing in quantitative trading and investment strategies. It hires a lot of people, and all of them are super smart. WorldQuant has become well-known for hiring the best of the best PhD graduates, researchers, and tech developers.

Other well-known companies on the list include biotech research firm Moderna, software development company Roblox, and Tesla, which now employs over 120,000 people across all its sites.

US Company Employee Growth, State by State

Next up, the study highlighted which company in each US state is hiring the most new staff.

Home Depot solidified its position as the biggest employer in the state of Georgia, adding an extra 19,000 job openings.

Hawaii’s biggest industry is trade and tourism, so it’s no surprise that its biggest hirer of 2022/23 was Hawaiian Airlines.

People’s love of their pets is driving job growth in Arizona. The state’s biggest hirer was Petsmart, which advertised an extra 1,722 jobs.

JP Morgan proved that New York state is still a major hub for global finance. The investment giant created an extra 28,100 jobs. Many of these new roles are in digital transformation, i.e., how new technology like blockchain and AI can revolutionize how we think about finance and asset management.

The most intriguing US company hiring lots of new starters is in New Mexico. The Los Alamos National Laboratory, which advertised 15,123 new job roles last year, describes itself as a research service firm. However, that research involves top-secret work on the US nuclear weapons program, as well as projects looking to advance nuclear fission, supercomputing, and space exploration. Now there’s a reason to get up for work on a Monday morning.

Every Company with the Highest Percentage of New Hires in Every US State

People are crazy for their pets in Maine. Over 60% of the state’s residents have at least one furry friend, making Maine one of the most pet-friendly states in the USA. This has to explain why veterinarian service provider Covetrus is The Pine Tree State’s biggest growing business in terms of the percentage of new staff.

The State of South Dakota increased its government administration department by over 5% in 2022/23, making it the state’s fastest-growing company. It’s an unexpected result given South Dakota’s long association with libertarian philosophy based on smaller government and increased individual freedoms.

Jeff Bezos is determined to catch up with his super-rich rivals in the billionaire space race. As such, his defense and space management firm, Blue Origin, is the biggest employer of 2022/23 in Washington state. It increased workforce numbers by around 20%. Will they help the firm reach its goal of returning to and setting up a permanent base on the Moon? Only time will tell.

In the world of photography, the tools of the trade define the quality and creativity of the images produced.

To see which ones do the job best, the team at Electronics Hub took a deep dive into over a million pictures posted on Flickr. They analyzed a range of tags, then calculated the average number of favorites per photo for each camera brand and model.

And they translated all that data into the charts and graphs below.

Here’s a look at which camera brands and models received the most love from Flickr.

The Most Loved Camera Brands

The Electronics Hub researchers began the study by looking at the most loved camera brands, according to data from Flickr.

Out of all the big names, Olympus came out on top, with an impressive 26.6 favorites per Flickr photo.

The Model That Snapped the Most Loved Photos on Flickr

Out of the thousands of great cameras, which produced the most loved photos on Flickr?

The answer is the Canon EOS M6 Mark II. It scored 138.9 faves.

The Fujifilm X-H1 came second. But with a Flickr favor ratio of 99, it was a long way off challenging the Canon for top spot.

Most Loved Camera Phones

A combination of cutting-edge technology, sophisticated software, and a user-friendly interface put the iPhone camera miles ahead of its rivals.

So it’s no surprise that Apple dominated the chart for the camera phone with the most Flickr favorites. It holds 6 of the top 10 spots, with the iPhone 13 Pro scoring the highest (29.8 favorites).

The Best Camera Model for Landscape Photos

The Sony’s Alpha a6300 is the best model for snapping stunning pictures of natural landscapes, according to Flickr users. It has an average of 294 faves per Flickr photo. Impressive stuff.

Let’s look at some specs that make this the perfect model for landscape photos. The a6300 features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor for high-resolution images, capturing the fine details and natural texture that define a truly great landscape photo. And its compact and lightweight design is ideal for those long-distance hikes into the wilderness.

The Most Loved Model for Wildlife Photos

Wildlife photographers can wait hours, days, or even weeks for the perfect shot. So when it finally comes along, they need to know they have the best camera for the job.

In this case, that’s the Olympus E-M10 Mark II, which scored 224.1 on the Flickr favorite ratio.

It’s the camera of choice for many famous wildlife photographers, including Martin Belan. “A superb camera for professionals and amateurs,” says Belan. “Its custom mode dials, silent shooting mode, and faster shutter speeds are exactly what you need when trying to capture that one iconic moment, which often happens in a split second.”

Photographing Beautiful Buildings

What does it take to snap a beautiful picture of an iconic landmark, building, or ancient historic site?

It takes the Fujifilm X30 model. This lightweight, retro model received the highest ratio of favorites (438.1) of all architecture-themed pictures posted on Flickr.

But here’s the bad news: Finding this model can be tough and expensive. The X30 was discontinued in 2021, and this little slice of Fujifilm’s history is highly sought after in the used market.

Cameras for Photographing Food

There’s more to photographing food than posting on the ‘gram. In fact, there’s a real art to food photography that can take years to perfect.

It requires careful composition, lighting, and styling to highlight textures, colors, and details, creating an image that evokes the taste and conveys a mood and feeling.

Nothing does that better than the Nikon D500 (64.5 favorites per Flickr photo). The Nikon D500 was purpose-built for food photography. Its advanced autofocus system guarantees hyper-sharp focus, highlighting textures and details in food. And the color rendition is superb at highlighting the vibrant colors and tones that make food photos look super appealing.

The Most Beloved Camera on Flickr For Fashion Photos

Fashion and photography are deeply interconnected. Fashion photography documents details the artistry of clothing and design, while the creative collaboration between photographers and fashion designers leads to iconic images that define trends and entire eras.

If you want to contribute to the art of fashion photography, then there’s no better tool than the Fujifilm GFX100s. It’s the camera of choice for professionals, aspiring amateurs, and, most importantly, people posting and perusing pics on Flickr.

Cameras Model for Portrait Pictures

The Electronics Hub study rounds off with the camera that produced the most loved portrait pictures on Flickr.

The Nikon Z7 II tops that table with 138.8 favorites per Flickr photo.

Flickr isn’t the only place where you’ll find a lot of love for the Nikon Z7 II. “The Nikon Z7 II is a true game-changer,” reads one review posted by Digital Photography Review. “It’s not just a camera; it’s an artist’s companion that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in photography.”
